A home exercise bike is a great piece of home fitness equipment for keeping fit, getting in shape and losing weight too. Depending on how you prefer to exercise, your physical size and ultimate goals, you may need an upright bike, a stamina bike or a recumbent exercise bike. Upright Exercise Bike
An upright bike is the most common type and looks and feels just like a normal bicycle you would ride on the street – the main difference being that instead of wheels it has the resistance mechanism which can usually be adjusted to suit your current strength and fitness levels. Recumbent Exercise Bike
The recumbant exercise bike has a seated riding position just like you’re sitting in a chair. The pedals are out in front of you rather than below as they would be on a upright bike. This type of bike is a better option if you’re thinking of training for long distances, or if you’re recovering or nursing a back injury of some form.
Getting Comfortable
Whichever type of bike you choose, you’ll want to make sure the seat and handlebars are fully adjustable so that you can set them for optimum comfort. Because let’s face it, if you’re not comfortable, you’re more likely to find an excuse not to use it.
Making Space For Your Fitness Equipment
Both types of excercise bikes take up quite a bit of room, so ideally you need to make sure you have enough space to leave it setup all the time. If it’s conveniently located somewhere in the home you’re more likely to make regular use of it. The alternative, if you really are struggling for space, is a folding exercise bike. Like the name suggests, these units can be folded up and stored in cupboard or the corner of the garage when not is use.
